Prayer Bootcamp Week 5

Prayer Bootcamp Week 5

What we did in the session this week 10/29/24:

We focused our final session of prayer bootcamp on praise and worship in song. We read Psalms 149 and 150 in small group and then heard a fantastic testimony from Linda and spent time worshipping the Lord as Reggie led us in praise.

We also watched a short portion of Alpha on praise -- from around 13:30 min (though 11:45 starts with the preacher to the pope, so you might want to start there - 17:32...or feel free to watch the whole thing)!
In the media you will find most of the class time besides the worship.  Linda's incredible and inspiring testimony starts at 10Min

Extras! Check out a talk from Fr. Alex on Praise and Worship and Christian Unity & a Talk From Peggy on our design to be worshippers and where we find this in the Bible (throw back to Burning Ones days)

Week 5 Prayer Bootcamp Challenge

Incorporate Praise into your daily life!
Perhaps try the 30 day challenge--only listen to Christian music, no secular music, and see how it changes your mind and heart.

Christian music stations: 102.1, 96.1 and 100.1 in San Diego or suggested playlists below are a good place to start
AND/OR
Spend at least 30 minutes a week in a concentrated time of praise and worship either corporately or on your own with a playlist--truly enter in with your heart and your body)

Continuing asking the Lord questions and listening for answers, seeking to hear His voice.

Perhaps commit to 1/2 hour of prayer time eachday in November that could look like:
1) Start with two worship songs / ACTS prayer
2)Ask the Lord questions and journal your answers
3) Read and meditate on scripture (go back to past classes, if you have not yet done all those home-works, for suggestions, or choose your own program of reading) and dialogue with God about the passage/do a lectio divina.  journal the revelation Holy Spirit gives you

EXTRA on Hearing God's Voice -- 8 minutes from Mark Virkler -- a great teacher who from his own disappointments and experience learned over time how to hear God's voice and teach others to do so (much of the method we learn/Fr. Alex teaches in Mass comes from him)

Song of the Week: "What a Beautiful Life" by Pat Barrett & Cain (start your day like Linda...one of the ones she referred to)

Communion by Steffany Gretzinger and Brandon Lake (14 Minute one recommended by Linda...sit at seaworld and enjoy:0)
